Mirror center of CRISM set up at IIIM, Jammu
Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare ( Government of India) has set up an Indo_US Center for Research on Indian System of Medicine ( CRISM) in the University of Mississippi, USA. To coordinate the activities of this center in USA Department of AYUSH has set up a Mirror Center of CRISM at IIIM, Jammu which was inaugurated by Mr. Shiv Basant, Joint Secretary (AYUSH) on 23rd July, 2008. Other present on this occasion were Dr. S. K. Sharma, Advisor (Ayurveda) Department of AYUSH and Dr. G. S. Laveker, Director, CCRAS.
The primary objective of this mirror center is the development of cooperative efforts between IIIM and AYUSH for coordinating and efficiently running the activities of an Indo-US joint Center for Research in Indian Systems of Medicine (CRISM) in the University of Mississippi, USA. This would include, Advocacy for Indian Systems of Medicine in USA, Preparation of Dossiers for Market Authorization, Collaborative Indo-US R&D activities for developing ISM/ herbal and botanical products for therapeutic uses following international standards and norms for safety, quality, standardization, efficacy, and clinical trials, and also to promote exchange between the faculty and students sponsored by two organizations as well as the exchange of academic and research information. IIIM will also contribute towards the development of specific projects in Indian medicine / traditional medicinal herbs/botanicals under this collaborative programme of the University of Mississippi and the department of AYUSH.
It is hoped that this center would bring credibility to ISM and would accelerate the pace of scientific development traditional drugs. Dr. Y. S. Bedi, Scientist F is the Nodal Officer of this Center at IIIM.
